Mersin Citrus Festival (Mersin International Citrus Festival) will be held between November 1-3.
Stating that the festival will strengthen the image of Mersin’s brand city, the Board of Directors of Mersin Commodity Exchange and Festival Executive Board President Mr. Abdullah Özdemir said that the fair, which was visited by 300 thousand people last year, will be held in the festival area of 70 thousand square meters this year and such as Russia, India, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan and Cameroon. He added that around 700 teams from nearly 30 nations, including nations, will perform traditional dance performances throughout the festival.
During the Citrus Festival, 25 different chefs will prepare citrus delicacies for 2 days in the Gastroshow area.
Mr. Özdemir stated that they wanted to show everyone the smiley face of the city with the festival and they aimed to create a colorful citrus world with ornaments and mobile figures made using 100 tons of citrus during the 3-day festival.
Mr. Özdemir listed the aims of the festival as follows:
- To introduce citrus products nationally and internationally
- Increasing consumption of citrus fruits and increasing brand value
- Increasing the capacity of citrus and increasing marketing chances
- To contribute to the identification of citrus with the city
- Mersin to attract attention to the city by introducing
- Supporting the revitalization of tourism in Mersin
- To increase urban aesthetics and image
- To create a traditional product festival in Mersin
- To create a multicolored, different and common activity that will contribute to every part of the city and its inhabitants.
