Speaking at the joint press conference with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at the Presidency Dolmabahçe Labor Office, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that he has interests in Turkey in energy, ports and railways.
Al Nahyan’s statements are as follows:
“We expect the relations between the two countries to progress in a way that will serve and reinforce mutual interests in the coming years. Our President Mohammed Bin Zayed and President Erdogan also have directives to improve relations. At the same time, our peoples also have a forward-looking hope. At the same time, we are moving towards relations that can strengthen Turkey’s regional position.
Trade activities between the two countries need to be increased. We can cooperate globally. We also have the power to do so. At the same time, we must make an effort to move our economies forward in terms of development and trade. It is also very important to pave the way for Turkish and BEA companies within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
The field of renewable energy is also very important to us. We must not only cooperate with successful relations and cooperation in the commercial field, but also cooperate on the future carbon reduction and energy of our countries and achieve these goals.
The trade volume between the two countries has increased by 82% in the last two years. This increase in our trade volume is an encouraging issue. But it is also a sign of a will that we put forth. The will of the two countries to increase this cooperation is also extremely important.”
Answering the question about the investments of UAE companies in Turkey, Al Nahyan said that this issue was also discussed in today’s meetings, and that there is a tendency for UAE companies to invest in energy in Turkey.
Stating that renewable energy, solar energy and electrical energy sectors were discussed, Al Nahyan stated that the UAE’s Masdar company closely follows investment opportunities in this field in Turkey.
Pointing out that investments can be made in the field of energy with public institutions or the private sector, Al Nahyan said, “This is important for making energy cheaper. This company (Masdar) has studies where we can make maximum use of solar energy, especially in a global sense.” he said.
Al Nahyan stated that UAE companies are also interested in various goods, railways and tourism opportunities in Turkey as well as energy and said, “Turkey is a big country and a country with a lot of potential. Tourism is also a very active sector. If we evaluate this, we will look for opportunities to strengthen this aspect of our relations in the future.” said.
Emphasizing that cooperation in the fields of health tourism and drug production came to the fore with Kovid-19, Al Nahyan said, “Cooperating not only in Turkey but also in other countries with Turkey is very important for us. It could be Africa, it could be Central Asia, or it could be Southeast Asia. Because these regions are places where Turkey and the UAE are also shown great respect. For this, we need to consolidate our relations well to go to those regions.” used the phrases.
